This collection consists mainly of historical published items covering a variety of topics including prisons, juvenile justice, mental health, as well as general criminology and official reports.

Brian Simpson during the writing of his book 'In the Highest Degree Odious: Detention Without Trial in Wartime Britain' (Clarendon Press, 1992). Scope and Contents A collection of 245 volumes on law from the Wheat family of Sheffield solicitors. The majority were printed in the 18th century, although 35 date from the 17th century, and 21 from the early 19th century.The Wheats were a family of Sheffield solicitors, active from around 1766 until the 1930s.
